With warm weather and a clear sky, it was the perfect day to visit Lady Liberty and learn some history about the celebrated monument.

On Sunday, September 18th, residents from the St. George Residence traveled to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to enjoy some beautiful views, they had the opportunity to ascend the steps and travel up the statue for great views of the city and amazing photo opportunities.

Among the St. George residents who attended, one student hailed from Australia, another from Germany, and a third from deep southern U.S.A; none of these students had visited the statue before and each found the experience unforgettable. Additionally, it was the first EHS event for new St. George Resident Director, Samantha Neugebauer. She had a great time talking to the residents and learning more about their experience at the St. George Residence thus far. During the ferry ride back to Manhattan, residents talked about what they had just witnessed while snacking on pretzels and juice from a food cart.

Resident Tianzhen Han, a student at NYU-Poly, said “I have always wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty. It is in all the movies and means so much for freedom!” Overall, the event was a success and will be special EHS memory for all in attendance!
