Educational Housing Services (EHS) Making Impressive Technology Improvements This Spring
BROOKLYN, NY (February 14, 2013): Educational Housing Services, Inc. (EHS) — the leading provider of private, off-campus student housing in New York City — is working hard this spring to make sure its residents can be more connected than ever before.
EHS provides complimentary wireless Internet throughout its three residences. As more students and interns have enjoyed this amenity, EHS has made tremendous efforts to make sure its networks stay strong.
"Over the course of the past few months, our wireless Internet networks experienced a significant increase in traffic compared to previous semesters,” explains Matias Pagola, EHS Chief Technology Officer. “We have been working hard to upgrade our networks in order to keep up with the ever-growing demand and are proud of the progress we have made in the past few weeks.”
Updates made so far include increasing the available bandwidth of EHS’ Internet— sometimes even doubling it — in EHS’ residences, and increasing monitoring and preventive actions to prevent any bad traffic in the networks, such as viruses and attacks.
Additionally, EHS has installed several more powerful core network devices as well as added more caching and proxy capacity to further increase the overall performance of EHS’ wireless network.
“I can tell a difference in the Internet speed already,” says EHS St. George Towers resident and Hunter College student Jeff Schimmer. “It’s really great that EHS wants to make sure everyone has a solid wireless connection no matter where we are in their buildings.”
EHS will continue to make improvements throughout the spring to ensure a reliable, fast, and safe connection for all EHS residents.
