Educational Housing Services, INC. Announces the Election of Five New Board Members

BROOKLYN, NY (March 1, 2013): Educational Housing Services, Inc. (EHS) has announced the election of five new Board Members, effective immediately. EHS welcomes The Honorable Jerry Hultin, Samara Barend, William Cockrum III, John Randolph II, and Donald Sheets to its Board of Directors.  Two of the current directors, Joan Cear and Charles Lee, have retired from the EHS Board.

Mr. Jeffrey Lynford, President& CEO of EHS commented: "I am pleased to announce the election of five new Board Members. The expertise these individuals bring collectively will strengthen our governance and management capabilities significantly. Together we expect to begin a new chapter at EHS.”

Board of Directors Appointments

Jerry Hultin is a graduate of Ohio State University (BA) and Yale Law School (JD). He has served as the 15th President of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (2005 to 2012) He is currently on sabbatical and will become President Emeritus in 2013. Formerly he served as Dean of the Howe School at Stevens Institute of Technology (2000 to 2005), and as Undersecretary of the Navy in the Department of Defense (1997 to 2000). He was appointed by President Clinton, with Senate confirmation, to serve as second in civilian command of the Department of the Navy. In July 2013 he will become a Senior Presidential Fellow at NYU.

Samara Barend is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (MPA).  She currently is the Vice President and Strategic Development Director for public-private partnerships at AECom, a major construction and engineering company. As Strategic Development Director, Ms. Barend works with each of AECOM’s business lines (water, energy, buildings, and transportation) to determine feasibility of alternative delivery systems. Prior to her position at AECom, Ms. Barend served as Executive Director of the New York State Commission on Asset Maximization. The Commission was chartered to explore the creation of public-private opportunities in New York State.

William Cockrum III is a graduate of DePauw University (BA) and Harvard University (MBA). Currently on the faculty of the Anderson Graduate School of Management of UCLA, he is recognized nationally and internationally for his courses in Finance, Ethical Leadership in Management, and Venture Capital. In the United Kingdom, he is a Visiting Professor at both Warwick University and Cranfield University. Previously, he has served as Vice Chairman of the major-bracket investment banking firm Becker Paribas Incorporated (now part of Merrill Lynch/Bank of America). Also, he has served on the Board of Directors of 16 public and private corporations. Over the last two decades he has been retained by over 20 law firms nationwide to testify as an expert witness in proceedings relating to securities trading and corporate policies, practices and values. Professor Cockrum has advised on governance and executive compensation matters to many public and privates companies and not-for-profits organizations.

John Randolph II is a graduate of Swarthmore College (BA) and the University of Pennsylvania (MBA). Currently he serves as Executive Vice-President of Sciame Development Inc. one of the leading tri-state real estate companies.  Among Sciame’ s completed projects are expansion of The Morgan Library and Museum, the restoration of the Central Synagogue/ the Harvard Club of New York City, and the South Court Addition to the New York Public Library. Previously he served as Director of Finance for Cigna Insurance’s real estate subsidiary. Also, he serves on the Board of The Actors Center and The Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra.

Donald D. Sheets is a graduate of George Washington University (BA, magna cum laude) and the Harvard Business School (MBA). Currently he is a Senior Principal at Square Mile Capital Management. Previously Mr. Sheets has worked at Davidson Kempner Capital Management, The Carlyle Group and Starwood Urban Investments. Mr. Sheets is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at both Columbia University and New York University, where teaches graduate-level distressed real estate investing coursework within each university's curriculum. Mr. Sheets serves as the Co-President of the Harvard Business School Real Estate Alumni Association and as a Council Member of the Urban Land Institute.

The organization works with many academic institutions and corporations to provide housing for over 10,000 students and interns annually, and also leases to individual students. In a shared room/suite, Female and Male rooms are assigned to residents whose gender identity aligns with the gender of that room. Selecting Neutral allows residents to reside with other residents regardless of gender identity, sex or gender expression.

A guarantor is a person over the age of 21, usually a parent, who agrees to be responsible if you are ever unable to fulfill the financial obligations of your housing agreement. If you can't get a parent to be a guarantor, the next best bet would be a relative or friend.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

To ensure the integrity of your reservation, all cancellation requests MUST be received by EHS through DocuSign or sent via certified or registered mail (to 55 Clark Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, Attention: Director of Leasing). Your request MUST be processed by DocuSign by 11:59 pm New York City Time, or postmarked on or before the cancellation deadlines set forth above. Cancellation requests processed or postmarked after the deadline or sent via a different method will result in NO REFUND of monies paid.

If there is a guarantor (required for 9 and 12 month reservations), the guarantor will be responsible to guarantee payment pursuant to the License Agreement and the Guaranty.

The client also understands that the Membership Fee is NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE.

All refunds are processed via check within 8-10 weeks and mailed to the client.
