Educational Housing Services inspires donations for the New York Blood Center and American Cancer Association
Residents and staff band together to support the community and breast cancer research
New York, NY (October 16, 2012) --- Educational Housing Services (EHS) Inc., New York City’s largest provider of safe and convenient housing for college students and interns, is proud to announce its recent Blood Drive on October 1st was the most successful in its history with over 120 staff and residents registering to donate blood. This resulted in over 75 whole blood donations and 4 red blood cell donations to the New York Blood Center.
EHS now has its philanthropic sights on Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and has teamed up with the American Cancer Association to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in New York City’s Central Park on Sunday, October 21st. This is EHS’s 5th consecutive year participating in the fundraiser walk, and the team is already well on the way to reaching its goal of raising $3,000 for breast cancer research through bake sales, change jars, and even selling peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
“Helping others has always been a top priority for the staff and residents at EHS,” explains Christy Gaiti, Vice President of Student Life. “We are consistently inspired by our residents’ enthusiasm for supporting the community, and we can’t wait to keep it going through more events during the holidays and beyond.”
EHS welcomes donations to its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraising page, located at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?team_id=1234182&fr_id=47320&pg=team. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
