Educational Housing Services Inspires Thousands of Students to Help Others This Holiday Season


EHS teams up with New York Cares, NY Blood Center and more

BROOKLYN, NY (December 10, 2012)---Educational Housing Services, Inc. (EHS), the leading provider of private, off-campus student housing in New York City, has launched a major campaign to inspire its more than 3000 residents to become involved with helping those in need this winter through fundraisers, blood drives, toy drives and volunteer efforts.

The season of giving kicked off at EHS in November, when EHS launched a fundraiser to help Hurricane Sandy victims and hosted a blood drive that resulted in a donation of more than  50 pints of blood to the New York Blood Center. EHS has also teamed with New York Cares for its annual Winter Wishes toy drive encouraging residents to donate money or toys. 

“We work year-round to provide opportunities for our residents to help those who are less fortunate – whether through volunteer work, donations, or drives,” explains Christy Gaiti-Chatfield, Vice President of Student Life. “It’s been a difficult couple months for a lot of people in the community with Hurricane Sandy happening so close to the holidays, so we’ve amped up our efforts to help and are proud to say our residents have too.”

EHS is currently collecting donations to help New York Cares answer the wish letters of children in the community, and hopes to be able to help at least 15 teens. EHS has also come up with creative ways for residents to donate, such as an event called “Cupcake Wars” in which residents made a donation to Winter Wishes to participate in a cupcake-making competition, then sold the resulting cupcakes for $1 each – which will also go directly to buying toys for the children.  Also, on December 16th, EHS staff and residents will be volunteering at St. Johns Bread and Life in New York City.

Room Assignment Information

In a shared room/suite, Female and Male rooms are assigned to residents whose gender identity aligns with the gender of that room. Selecting Neutral allows residents to reside with other residents regardless of gender identity, sex or gender expression.

Subject to availability. All 9 month reservations require 30% plus Membership Fee at the time of reservation, with 30% due by 8/1 and the final 40% due by 12/1.

4. Provide Guarantor Information

A guarantor is a person over the age of 21, usually a parent, who agrees to be responsible if you are ever unable to fulfill the financial obligations of your housing agreement. If you can't get a parent to be a guarantor, the next best bet would be a relative or friend.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

To ensure the integrity of your reservation, all cancellation requests MUST be received by EHS through DocuSign or sent via certified or registered mail (to 55 Clark Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, Attention: Director of Leasing). Your request MUST be processed by DocuSign by 11:59 pm New York City Time, or postmarked on or before the cancellation deadlines set forth above. Cancellation requests processed or postmarked after the deadline or sent via a different method will result in NO REFUND of monies paid.

If there is a guarantor (required for 9 and 12 month reservations), the guarantor will be responsible to guarantee payment pursuant to the License Agreement and the Guaranty.

The client also understands that the Membership Fee is NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE.

All refunds are processed via check within 8-10 weeks and mailed to the client.
