When Schools Go on Break, Educational Housing Services Gets Busy
EHS uses Academic Winter Break to Refresh Services
BROOKLYN, NY (January 18, 2013)--- Educational Housing Services, Inc. (EHS), the leading provider of private, off-campus student housing in New York City, knows how to take advantage of a great opportunity when it sees one. That’s why when a majority of its residents leave for the annual academic winter break, EHS--which stays open 365 days a year--uses the time to refresh its services to make sure it continues to offer the best off-campus housing in New York City, as well as offer services to current residents who may not have travel plans during break.
“We strive to create the best living environment for our students so winter break is a time for renovation projects to occur, maintaining our facilities to their highest standards, and looking ahead for any new projects we may want to take on in the new year,” explains Nicole Otero, EHS Facilities Coordinator.
“This winter break, our focus was on adding a new communal kitchen, lounge, and additional student rooms to our New Yorker Residence,” adds Otero.
EHS’ renowned Student Life program is also reviewed during this time. In addition to offering round-the-clock support services, the fully trained Student Life also coordinates over 100 events for residents each semester, ranging from resume writing workshops to Yankees game outings.
“Part of EHS’ ongoing effort is to make sure it is as updated as possible from all directions. Winter break is a time for EHS to reexamine policies, procedures and even structures to make sure our residents have the most all-around terrific experience possible,” says Student Life staffer and EHS St. George Towers Resident Advisor Lauren Helms.
“The fact that we stay open is also great for residents who may not be able to travel home during the break, especially international students,” continues Helms. “Most other residences close during this time, leaving these residents stranded, so we’re proud to stand apart from the pack in that way and help them out.”
