Terrorism
Before: If you see something, say something.
Suspicious activity is any observed behavior that could indicate terrorism or terrorism-related crime. This includes, but is not limited to:
Unusual items or situations: A vehicle is parked in an odd location, a package/luggage is unattended, a window/door is open that is usually closed, or other out-of-the-ordinary situations.
Eliciting information: A person questions individuals at a level beyond curiosity about a building’s purpose, operations, security procedures and/or personnel, shift changes, etc.
Observation/surveillance: Someone pays unusual attention to facilities or buildings beyond a casual or professional interest. This includes extended loitering without explanation (particularly in concealed locations); or unusual, repeated, and/or prolonged observation of a building.
During: In the unlikely event of a terror attack:
If there is an accessible escape path, attempt to evacuate the building or area.
If evacuation is not possible find a place to hide out of view of the attacker and if possible, put a solid barrier between yourself and the threat.
As a last resort, when you can’t run or cover, attempt to disrupt the attack or disable the attacker.
After
When you are safe, call 9-1-1 and be prepared to provide information to the operator including location of the incident, number of injured and details about the attacker(s).
Take care of yourself first and then, if you are able, help the wounded get to safety and provide immediate care.
After law enforcement arrives: Remain calm and follow instructions, keep hands visible and empty, report to designated areas to provide information and get help.
