EHS RA Selection Information
Thank you for your interest in the EHS Resident Advisor position!
We are excited that you are considering this great opportunity to enhance other resident's experience living at Educational Housing Services. Though much of what an EHS RA does involves helping others, RAs also help themselves by developing valuable leadership skills in the areas of communication, teamwork, conflict mediation, event planning, organizational skills, and crisis management. Make no mistake- being a Resident Advisor is a challenging position that requires energy, commitment, and dedication. Still, residents who become RAs find the experience to be incredibly rewarding.
Resident Advisors (RAs) are an integral part of Educational Housing Services and we are seeking candidates who enjoy working in a community setting and fostering a living and learning enviroment. RAs are paraprofessional student staff members who have direct and constant contact with our residents. Their primary responsibility is to act as facilitators for the residence hall community and to enhance the social, educational, intellectual, and cultural development of each individual. The Resident Advisor articulates to residents the philosophy and policies of Educational Housing Services and the institutions represented.
The position requires an individual who is flexible enough to assume a variety of roles as dictated by the changing needs of our residents. It is crucial that our Resident Advisors relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities. We have six basic roles for the RA: Community Development Manager, Customer Service Representative, Programmer, Team Member, Administrator, Community Mediator/Advocate, and Role Model. All of these are crucial in our day to day operations.
If you need assistance or have any questions, contact your building's Associate Director during their office hours or e-mail us at StudentLife@studenthousing.org.
We look forward to receiving your application. Good luck!
